Last week I had the honor of moderating a panel with three fantastic HR and talent leaders in Denver:

We had an intimate conversation covering topics ranging from diversity, to building a future talent pipeline, to corporate culture and employee engagement. Here are a few of the most compelling takeaways:

  • As a corporate executive, it is important to take into account every member of your team and peer group’s communication styles. This is especially crucial as companies become more diverse. It’s a good way to safeguard against sentiments of exclusion.

  • If you want to make a dent in your numbers, you have to prioritize diversity as a business imperative. This is no longer a soft subject or a “nice to have” as we move into the next generation of corporate leaders. There are plenty of studies to back this up, diverse leadership teams are correlated with higher returns.

  • Today’s junior and mid-level employees are motivated by a sense of purpose. In the current environment, we hope to see less of a focus on snacks and ping pong tables and more of a focus on motivation through purpose-driven work.

Thanks to our friends at Magpie Events for their expert and seamless planning, to Run for the Roses for sharing this special space, and to Nathan Hindman for capturing the excitement on film.
