Wharton Alumnae Founders and Funders Event

We really enjoyed serving as a panelist at Wharton’s WAFFA event: What Will Work Look Like Post Pandemic?

It was lovely to share the stage with: Madison Kempf, Executive Recruiter at SPMB; Nicky Kamra, Seed Investor at Streamlined Ventures; and Vivian Chen, Founder & CEO of Rise.

Some of the topics that we covered included:

  • How have women and men been affected differently by this pandemic?

  • Current trends in hiring - it is still happening, even though in-person interviews are not occurring!

  • Advice to those making career changes or for those who have recently lost their jobs: take this time to work on CVs and figure out what it is that you really enjoy doing.

  • The pros and cons of the "Remote First" environment going forward. What will this mean for people living in cities if they no longer have to go into offices?

  • The gig economy has paved the way for a new sort of project-based economy. Multiple income streams could be the future of work for many people.

  • Activity in VC is moving a little slower, but new investments are still being made. VC is shifting from a heavy emphasis on in-person events/meetings and is investing in companies with whom they have never had a direct in-person interaction.
